A good grip gives you the necessary force (swing speed) needed and helps to square up the club face at impact. A fingers held grip, with 2-3 knuckles showing on the left hand. A neutral right hand parallel with the left hand.
Good consistent drives come from having an excellent address position. Shoulders, hips, feet and knees are parallel to the target line. A straight back, slightly flexed legs, hanging arms creating an angle with the club. The weight should be on the balls of your feet. ADDRESS Head up, chin clear of the chest. The ball is opposite the inside of the left foot. Stance is a little wide than the shoulders. Good dynamic position
TAKE AWAY The weight is transferred to the right leg. The club stays low to the ground. Shoulders, arms and body move in one piece. (Be careful, not to drag the club straight away on the inside.)
HALF BACK SWING The left arm is fully extended giving maximum width. Shoulders, arms and body still move harmoniously together. The right leg remains flexed and resists against the torsion created by body rotation.
FULL BACK SWING - POWER Full body rotation, the back is facing the target 90°. The club is parallel to the ground and is at right angle to the left arm. The body weight 60% on the right foot. The left knee has positioned itself inside the ball.
DOWNSWING Re-rotation of body. Right elbow being pull into the body. Left arm and club retaining 90° angle. The weight is perfectly equally distributed on both feet
IMPACT Shoulders, arms form a triangle. The club face is square through impact. The body weight is transferred 60% to the left foot. The Club head staying low to the ground just like the takeaway.
THE FOLLOW THROUGH Continuation of the golf swing. The right side completely releasing trough impact with the right forearm rotating.
FINISH The total weight transfer of the body on to the left leg. Good balance. The body is completely released through the ball.
START OF THE BACKSWING Triangle, one piece takeaway.Hips resisting the upper body.
HALF BACK SWING The right leg remaining flexed. The upper body and arms are united
SWING PLANE - CONTROL Tthe clubshaft is in the same axis as the ball lis the right shoulder.
TOP OF THE BACKSWING The hands are opposite the right shoulderThe right elbow still reasonably tucked in.
DOWN SWING Control. The clubshaft still on plane.
IMPACT The clubhead is released into the ball on the same swingpath as the backswing. Head and chin are allowing up for a free follow through. The shoulders have returned to their address position.
IMPACT 2 Eyes still focused on the ball. Hips are open to ensure a free follow through. The club face is square
