Tenerife, in the Canaries, is one of the high places of the golf in Europe for exceptional golfic holidays. It is indeed a destination of first choice with six courses of quality and several others in project, like that of "Buenavista". | |

The island at the single season arouses interest among all amateurs of golf throughout the world. Its courses of very great quality and very varied are an excellent alternative for those which seek other ingredients at their holidays that the sun and the sea. With two international airports, one with north and the other in the south of the island, more 35' 000 beds in hotels of four or five stars, installations and tourist services high level, all was created to offer a maximum of comfort to the visitors. Nature is splendid and clear water of the southern littoral makes it possible to see whales and dolphins to evolve/move in their natural environment. The climate, soft all the year, does not know periods of great cold nor of intense heat. This island is an ideal destination during the months when the winter reigns in the Scandinavian and alpine areas of Europe. For this period, in the Canaries, it is possible to benefit from the sun on the beaches and to play golf out of tee-shirt, whereas one can see on the heights, with a few kilometers, the top of famous "the Pico del Teide" covered of snow. In the south of Tenerife, in San Miguel de Abona, "Golf LED On" profits from the exceptional weather conditions of the island. This course of 27 holes offers a very original layout characterized by its black volcanic sand bunkers. Along broad the fairways extends a typical vegetation, forming a true oasis of 800' 000 m2 at the edge of the Atlantic, made up of palm trees and giant cacti. One of the most recent golfs (1998), that of "Costa Adeje" also is very appreciated. The layout of the fairways wife perfectly the natural shapes of the ground. The greens, whose position was strategically studied, are marvelously placed and offer fantastic sights on the sea. It is on this ground, in Adeje, that was held the tournament of the 2nd International Golf Challenge, in June 2001, with more than 80 participants from all Europe. To also note the practice with carpets on three stages offering a superb sight on the sea and which one reaches thanks to a Otis elevator especially conceived to transport the cars of golf. It goes down 25 meters in a rock face, to join the practice. In bottom, the carpets of this driving-arrange original are placed on three platforms dug in the rock, from where the sight on the sea is spectacular. In Arona, the superb Tired Golf Américas, by 72 of 6039 m, is difficult to play. It appears very simple but is full with obstacles. The water obstacles require much concentration and the very fast greens, with perfect maintenance, destabilize even the players having a handicap with a figure. Amarilla Golf (18 holes, by 72), also located at San Miguel de Abona, was inaugurated in 1988 and received the Open one of Tenerife two years later. The architect Donald Steel created this spectacular course at the edge of the rock coast. Its fairways sometimes narrow, is bordered of palm trees and small islands of broken stones planted of cactus. The hotels of the island are remarkable, with a special mention for two of them: the Hotel Tropical Garden and Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque. As its name indicates it, the first, superb four stars located in edge of sea, is surrounded by a tropical garden of 12' 000 m2, with 16' 000 plants and 300 gasolines of trees. The multiple terraces and balconies of the white buildings open on a vegetation luxuriante in the medium of which the meanders of the swimming pool sinuent, composed of small islands connected by small bridges. The "Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque", five stars of luxury, has 362 rooms, including 38 continuations arranged in houses with architecture typically canarienne of the beginning of the century. A true small village built on 56' 000 m2 of tropical gardens, with several restaurants, shops and a multitude of sporting installations, make an oasis of them be discovered absolutely. The hotel is given the responsability to reserve the departures in all the golfs of the island. Tenerife is a beautiful destination, when the fog covers our regions but also all the year, to leave to discovered superb courses.
