SEE ALL STORIES

It is in a woody area releasing all the scents of the scrublands and having a palette of greens, that has been set this “forest-clad” golf, respecting the bends and the original flora. On some autumn mornings, along hole N°11, wild pigs dare to escape from the private hunting nearby, seeking refuge on the fairways. Around the water features, coypus, squirrels, common moorhens, ashen herons, mallards, hardly get distracted from their occupations when golf carts go by. The Endre, a river which has given its name to the golf course, curves around the holes. To hear the chirping of birds, at sunrise and sunset, is a joy to solitary players. At the edge of the forest, on the other bank, fishermen sometimes set up their folding chairs. Water is one of the strong points of this golf which will soon UV treat discharges of the purification plant of the estate. “Even though the South East is not the region most affected by water restrictions in summer, thanks to the Provence Canal, it will be an additional resource for our greens”, explains its Director Bernard Lombard. Opened in 1992, this 18-hole designed by Michel Gayon over 6.2 km in an estate of 146 hectares is rather technical since it is narrow and the challenge is to place the ball rather then hit it. It is not without reason that it appeals to women and has twice hosted the women’s open! Hardly exposed to wind it can be played throughout the year. The most difficult holes to play are the par 3, well defended and rather long. Regular and precise mowing give to the ground a homogenous level but the whole course is by no means easy since the hazards are varied. From hole 7 to 12 and at hole 6, be carefulabout the club‘s choice! At hole14 you need a draw to cross the lake. At hole 17, par 4 all uphill, the green is reached in only 2 long shots. At hole 8 the birdy will be hard if the flag is near the water body! Friendly, with the arrival of hole 9 and the departure of hole 10 at the club, it is rather physical since it is undulating and very soon one cannot do without the GPS fixed on the golf carts to locate the slope and know the distance to the flag. Important detail: in spite of the size of the property development linked to the golf, constructions remain well away from the golf course. Located well away from the coastal excitement, the estate is not isolated: access is through the same motorway exit as Saint-Tropez. The club has 300 members, half of whom are secondary residents. While one does bump into a few Japanese, no doubt brought in by the estate’s developer, the international clientele is mainly from Northern Europe: Danish, Dutch, Swiss, Norwegian, and English. Often villa owners, they hardly come in summer but make this golf course very lively throughout the rest of the year!

Le spa

The Spa has not been here added to the hotel. It was already there and covers 2000m2! One can feel the special attention paid
to sportspeople; For example, in the 20 m long swimming pool, a bio aquatic course is proposed combining, for muscle relaxation:counter current swimming, subaquatic jets, and on the edge of the pool, micro bubble beds. In the Fitness room, a coach teaches the proper use of the PowerPlate, the vibrations of which stimulate muscular power and bone density. The resting room is totally soundproof. The terrace is next to the sauna - all in light coloured wood - white pebbles and Papyrus overlook the club-house’s entrance. As regards beauty care, the “Golfer” package lasts 1h45 and includes peeling with Dead Sea salts, a seaweed body wrap stimulates sweating and eliminates toxins, and there is an energetic massage. The “Jet Lag” care starts by the application of a bubbly and warming mud on the spinal chord and the shoulder blades, followed by a massage from the feet to the nape of the neck… The Golger Pack, sold in the shop, includes one green fee and one entrance to the Spa.
