PASS TRANSRONTATLIER This pass is original for three reasons. It puts to question the pricing system and is associated with an award. It associates 8 French courses (in the Var and on the Riviera) to 8 Italian (in Piemont and Ligurie) but gives both of them a real chance to attract the 3200 players concerned! “This unique pricing system, explains Bernard Lombard, (the Var director of the Saint Andreol course and initiator of this project which is favored by the most prestigious of golf courses) gives a sort of reduction off the green fees so the difference can be compensated for in the use of caddies, minicars and other golfing equipment”. The pass is sold for 250 euros in the form of a booklet with 5 tickets representing 50 euros per ticket. When the player presents this booklet an immediate 10% reduction is taken off the green fee. Either he goes over the 50 euros and the rest is to be paid in cash, or the cost is under 50 euros so he can use the difference to buy practice tokens, hire a minicab, put it towards his lunch or to pay for a drink upon his return. Only one of the 16 courses can be used twice. With this pass an award is launched within the 16 participating clubs: the Jean-Claude Novaro trophy, is the name given to the award after an Azurean. Different challenges are presented to each club and 6 players are selected: 2 women, 2 men, and 2 seniors, the 96 qualifiers will meet up for a rematch the 7th and 8th October on the Cuneo golf course in Italy. The passes are for sale at the associated clubs and three tour operators specialised in golf: 2 French (Greens du monde and eFrance Golf) and an Italian (Turgranda). In Italy the green fees go up at the weekend (there is no high and low season like in France), so most people tend to come and play there in summer because of the steady rate!
